I really don't think it's so much "becoming more popular"...
but I do think the conservative base if VERY disappointed in the last 7 years and really is just demoralized...
for many that vote conservative, morality was a huge issue... and scandals piled up for their party...
I don't think these people will vote democrat next time... I just think that many won't vote at all... and I think that was a major problem in the 06 midterms...
Dems aren't gaining votes... Republicans are just losing them... and as close as many races were in 2000 and 04... they can't afford to lose any...

People in general are becoming more liberal...don't believe me? look at tv and other forms of entertainment. the things you see on tv and in life in general would not have even been considered twenty years ago...don't know if it is for the best or not, but the world has become so liberal that we have gotten to the point where nothing is shocking anymore.
