Your urine is always darker first thing in the morning because it has had time to concentrate overnight in your bladder--the waste products are a golden color-- (water intake when you are asleep is not diluting it). This is entirely normal (unless it is a coca cola color). During the day you start to drink water & eat which makes more water available to dilute the waste products in the urine. Urine is sometimes cloudy due to: 1. bacteria (a urinary infection), 2. urates or phospates (cellular products that are normal), 3. mucus threads also normal and 4. skin cells (epithelial) in women only--also normal due to the short urethra.

From the brown color you described, it sounds like you're not drinking enough water. Sodas and juices don't count, you have to drink water. The cloudy color is sediment in the urine from the other stuff you're drinking. If you let it go on too long you'll get an infection and require antibiotics. So have a glass of water or two. Cranberry juice is also good for flushing your system, but don't drink too much.

When it's clear, it's a good sign that your body is hydrated. Yellow urine means you should drink a little more water. Urine should be clear.

Dark coloured urine means you are dehydrated. You need to drink more liquids, the clearer and paler your urine is the better.
Cloudy urine can be a sign of kidney stones or a urinary tract infection.
