Every question has an answer and both the question and the answer have their meanings. It is possible for a question to imply different things for different people, as it is also possible for one question to have more than one right answer, meaning differently. This is particularly valid when it comes to the topics as big life itself, and as specific a life a single specific person. This then I take is true that the in this case the question is also an answer among countless other answers by countless other people.
Life is a search and this is common to all people regardless of personal opinions, understandings and preferences. We all seek all our life not the answer to the question of life, but answers. We see and live with different people; we encounter various circumstances and have peculiar life experiences of our own. This raises the same question in our minds – what does this all mean? What is the purpose of all this? And most importantly – what is purpose of my life in this big wide world? In this respect therefore the question itself is the answer to itself, the search a common destiny of mankind.
However, when it comes to agreeing on the answers to the question of life, that we all do find in our own way, at various stages of our life, no tow person would agree completely upon one single answer; all people with understand, and even like to understand life differently. This is what makes each of us what we are, meaningful and yet unique among many like us.

Is this a phonetic way of saying 'for two' (42) which, extended, means spending your life with another? Presumably, you would love that other? The act of love, which is for two ( I know! 22, if you like ) makes three so that's more life created from the 42 act.

The meaning of life is something different for everybody, but to me it is the love, of my children, grandchildren and great grand children. I spent the better part of my life raising my children to be able to take care of themselves in a hard, and cold world so that they could teach their children to do the same and it has worked because now I have four of the most magnificent ggchildren in the world.

the equation = 42
Is that not from the film hitchhikers guide?
Could there be a serious answer?
possibly but why waste time worrying about it, whatever the reason you are here and when you are no longer here, you will either be somewhere else or you wont.
You can waste time trying to decide if you should take life seriously or not, either way you have lots of choices but only one chance.
