My favourite song is called...She Wore A Gypsy Skirt.
It is about the loss of a first love and how the lovers didn't know that they were doomed.
I feel very close to this song because I wrote it and over the years my friends have acknowledged it to be a true reflection.
The harbour lights...the early dawn
They seem so long ago
The future was my mistress
A freedom only I could know
She wore a gypsy skirt, so long it touched the ground
Her hair was as black as a pirates heart
Her skin was soft as down
And I was a young man still, confident and sure
Sure as the sun was going to rise
And the star filled night would fall
And we warmed our hearts on the burning flame
The passion and the glow
Never dreaming we would find one day
A freedom only prisoners know
I took her to my heart, and she the same for me
The future teased and taunted us
It knew what it would be
She wore a gypsy skirt
So long it touched the ground
Her hair was as black as a pirates heart
Her skin as soft as down

I also love Angels by Sarah McLaughlin. It reminds me of my baby son who died of prematurity. It's definatly his song in my mind and I play it when I need to feel a closer to him.

Let it be - the beetles. Although I still can't bring myself to play it for myself because it was at my mums funeral. Beautiful, moving, tells a story and has a very special meaning to me. Good question.

'Is this love' by Bob Marley.
To me it's an all purpose love song. It can be a song about lovers, or the love between a parent and child or between best friends.
It totally warms my heart.
