Why not bowling as well? How about Roller Derby? Too bad there are no tracks big enough to put NASCAR in. Thank God they put beach volleyball in. darts are also on the agenda.

No. Poker, as a game, is all over the airwaves now - but for many years the World Series of Poker was on ESPN and no one cared. Poker, blackjack, and other gambling games have no part of the Olympics. Activities which are more athletic in nature are part of the Olympics. Without an element of athletic skill being required, the Olympics should not allow an event in.

No for 1 simple reason poker is a game of luck as chess and bridge both require more skill and neither of those games are going to be in the Olympics even though they have IOC recognition.

Besides the host country just can't add any sport or event they want. It has to go through a whole criteria and process before you can even get IOC recognition and that's before the necessary 2/3 of the delegates vote for a new sport to be added.

I must say i totally disagree with one poster who said poker is a game of luck. Poker is not a game of luck at all, if that was the case you wouldn't see so many pros making final table after final table, if poker was all luck then everyone could play and make money off of it. But the fact is poker takes a huge amount of skill to play it well. I would like to see it as a trial sport, they have curling, and snowboarding, so why not poker.
