Censorship varies between countries and on what the topic is. During the Vietnam war TV news was more censored in Australia than in the US (according to an Australian TV cameraman, Neil Davis).
There are a lot of things that the TV in Australia cannot put to air that would certainly go to air in the US. In Australia the media is not allowed to identify, in any way, a victim of a sex crime, or the perpetrator of any crime if they are a juvenile.
Some words are not allowed to go to air, on TV or on radio, in Australia and these would be "bleeped" out.
Nipples and genitals cannot be shown on Australian TV, but other nudity is allowed.
TV stations in Australia do not show graphic news stories of death etc like they used to do 15-20 years ago, or even longer ago. Certainly, even 30 years ago you could not show the face etc of a body in Australia if the story was shot in Australia but if the body was from overseas then it could be shown. Nowadays the stations rarely show a body, in a body bag, being carried on a stretcher.

I lived in italy for two years. On tv and on the radio they wouldn't edit any of the language at all. Also at night, they would actually show porn on some of the tv channels.

They are much more tolerant towards about sexuality. Nudity is not a big deal there. They are much less tolerant about violence and gore than in American society.
