a violation of allegiance to one's sovereign or to one's state.
or the betrayal of a trust or confidence; breach of faith; treachery

it is not freedom of speech when what you are saying is lies, with the intent to undermind and do harm to the country you live in and supposedly love.

The ironic thing about calling for charges of treason to be filed against someone is that, in the modern age, people think the concept of treason is something quaint and outdated.
If someone fifty years ago did some of the things Michael Moore has done, he would have been charged with treason. Now, people practically laugh at the word as if it some relic of a less enlightened time.
I have a better idea than charging him with treason, which would only serve to give him martyr status: he should have to publicly apologize for all the intentional lies he has told. As one example, Michael Moore interviewed a soldier who had lost limbs in the Iraq war. This soldier was made by Michael Moore to look like an angry, bitter man who hated Bush and despised the Iraq war. Nothing could be farther from the truth. In the movie, "Fahrenhypt 9-11" which summarily debunked Moore's 9-11 pack of lies, the soldier denounced Moore for purposely editing the hell out of the tape to give a completely different impression. This was not a simple mistake on Moore's part. In the original interview conducted by Moore, the soldier talks about how proud he was to have served and how he is optimistic about the future. This soldier was a rare and amazing individual who bore no resentment and had a positive outlook on life. Moore used dishonest editing to make the soldier's message match Moore's particular tastes.
Maybe this would be best: have Michael Moore stripped down to his underwear. He will have to address the nation on tv and contritely apologize for all his lies, duplicity, hypocrisy, and insults to our nation, and to the highest office of the land. He can be tied up to a post in major cities across the nation, and people who resent having been lied to can throw eggs at him. Considering the damage he's done, and the way he smugly tried to deceive everyone, that's quite fair, wouldn't you say?

treason for what? For speaking out against the injustices in our society? About the inadequacies in our government? For trying to show some semblance of truth that our media and government tries so hard to cover up? Yup, charge him with treason...wait...isnt there a thing here in america called...freedom of speech?

No. He's questioned the government. I think the first amendment protects that.
Anyway, if anyone should be charged with treason, it's the president for outing an undercover agent
