I took my new laptop out on my patio for the first time to sit under my umbrella and surf the web only to find that I could not see anything on the screen because of the bright sunlight. This is my first laptop and I was looking forward to using it on my patio. Is there a way to adjust the screen to I'd be able to see it or is there some kind of attachment (filter) that can be purchased to put over the screen that might help?

Hammer out some kind of bonnet that fits the laptop and block the sun light, that's probably the best you can do, this same situation probably can go with GPS users but PDA and GPS screens are small, so a hand is enough to make that bonnet thing to block out the sun.

My first reaction on the strap line was to say to wear sunglasses...until I read your further commentary. I have the same problem in actual fact, I dont know the answer but would love to find out.

go into settings and make the screen go upside down turn laptop upside down rest keyboard on your head what a perfect sunblock.

They're generally marketed mainly as privacy filters because they mean you can't read the screen from the side but they are aso supposed to reduce glare.

usually there is a way to turn up the brightness on your laptop, on my compaq i press fn+f8 and it goes up.
