My dad has recently bought a piece that goes in the computer that allows him to receive Internet from anywhere in the house as long as is in range of the Modem. So......when I insert all the info of the modem, it tells me the connection in limited ot has no connectivity, then when I try ti repair it, it stops on renewing your IP address. Any tips?

You need to check the security settings Usually if the WEP/WPA key is lost you will not be able to get an IP address it will just try and then fail. If the router is available you can login to it and check what those settings should be.
