question about mame emulator?

i can only play my rom games using the keyboard is there anyway to set it up so i can use my usb controller???

If you are using windows based MAME (not dos command prompt) you can do the following:

Start MAME
Click on options
Click on Default Game Properties
Choose Controllers

See if your controller is recognized

Now Click on Controller Mapping

Secondly you can start your game in MAME and once loaded you press the TAB button. A box will open and choose (Inputs General) or (Inputs This Game) you can map your controllerr to play each game the way you want.

Also you can get a nice pre made controlle panel called the Hot Rod. look at this link for information:

yes. there should be options depending what version of mame you are running try looking for an option setting called controller setup. or something similar
