WE hired a contractor to build some add-ons to our home. WE have a written contract stating what he would do and how much he would get payed. Unfortunately we had a misunderstanding with him and he broke the contract after leaving the project halfway done and receiving 39500 of the 42000 dollars that would have been payed to him. The contractor is unlicensed. Is there a lawsuit possible?

Sure you can sue him/her.

Will you win? Probably.

Will you collect? Probably not.

Next time, don't pay so much up front and only deal with a licensed contractor.
