terpsez11 : What ?? Would you like to elaborate on your very vague statement? For clarification. I was saying that America has it own issues internally. They have no right telling other countries how to behave. There are some US towns where if you speak out against the war you will get hit. I promise you.

ritefielder14 : See above. You will get severely beaten in many areas of your country for speaking out.

Democracy is a mere social and political perception of the participants. Our method of democracy and its institutions is not necessarily the only type of democracy that the rest of world should practice. Let us leave the Russians to determine what kind of leadership and government they want. I visited Uganda in 2001 and a Ugandan politician wanted to know why Americans were complacent about GOP rigging of the elections. He wanted to know why we did not go out in the streets in support of the cause of democracy and Al Gore who had won the elections with over 200,000 votes. To this day, I don't have an answer to that. Do you? And where is democracy when a president can veto the wishes of majority of citizens?

George W. Bush shouldn't be pointing fingers. He's done more to ruin democracy in America that all our other President combined. Bush has:
a) Stolen at least one (maybe two) elections;
b) Lied to the American people and the Congress about 'weapons of mass destruction' as a means of involving the U.S. in an unconstitutional, illegal, immoral 'war';
c) Disregarded the rules of the Geneva Convention which undermines America's trustworthiness and integrity;
d) Turned this country into a police state where the 'crack' Department of Homeland Security presumes all citizens to be guilty until proven innocent;
e) Prevented demonstrators from protesting within camera range of anywhere he speaks publicly;
f) Tarnished America's reputation as a world leader and global peacekeeper;
g) Denied that our government condoned sexual abuse and torture of 'detainees' at Abu Ghraib;
h) Destroyed America's fiscal stability through reckless economic policies and an unjustifiable 'war' that has put American taxpayers TRILLIONS of dollars in debt;
i) Violated the laws of our land without regard to the laws of our land or the U.S. Constitution;
j) Routinely rejected the need to combat global warming, and ignored the delicate ecological balance between all men, plants and animals so that we might survive on this planet;
k) Sacrificed the needs of America's poor, homeless, sick, aged, disadvantaged, underprivileged, unemployed, disabled and hungry while providing corporate welfare to the richest companies and tax breaks to the most wealthy among us.

I'd have to say bush speaks with a forked tongue. He needs to examine how he has ruined democracy in this country! -RKO- 06/05/07

1/ Freedom of speech in Russia: You get killed or hurt for expressing your individuality in public

2/ The Media in Russia: Putin has killed over 14 journalists in Russia since 2000

3/ Political party "electioneering" in Russia: Russia is creeping back to its old communist ways...soon there won't be elections in Russia, just turmoil.

RESPONSE:

Instead of complaining and moaning about how horrible this country is, look at other countries. I am so glad I live in America.

Look, I see what your saying, and it is sad that there are people out there who would beat others for what they believe, but, this country is giving me life, liberty, and property. I can't do much complaining because when I see what other countries would give me (death, no freedom, and no food) I thank God for making me an American.

You have not been paying attention. In the US, journalists who rail against the administration get printed. In Russia, they get killed.
