My cervix is soft and have been having some contractions, but nothing big, and nothing that has changed my cervix. Anyway I am just seeing what other women did to start labor? I know about sex, castor oil and walking. Just curious if any of these worked for you or if you used something else. Thanks.

Red Raspberry Leaf capsules. I took them in the last weeks of pregnancy, had LOTS of Braxton-Hicks contractions and went into labor at 38 weeks.

Best of luck!

My husband and I had sex and I was admitted to the hospital 4 hours later. Of course, my daughter was already 6 days late at that point, so I was ready to pop!

Sex and walking are the only 2 things that will actually work, and even then only if you are really close to going into labor on your own. I wouldn't use castor oil, as it can cause the baby to have a bowel movement in utero, which can cause lots of medical problems for the baby.

Good luck!

When I was pregnant the day before my due date I shampoed the carpets in my apartment and I guess I started having the contractions that night I woke up at like 3:30 in the morning to use the bathroom and my water was leaking. I got to the hospital at 4 and i was already 6 cm 100% had her at 9:27am. So for me the shampooing of the carpets did it. Oh and i had tried the castor oil thing before(twice) did absoutly nothing- for the labor part.

Nothing worked for me...my DD was 2 wks and 3 days late...16 hours of natural and had to have my water broke!

So all you can do is be patient. Unfortunately the Doctors Due date is an estimate and ONLY your body will know when it is exactly the right time to go into labor...just do what you already know and see what happens... take NICE long relaxing walks too those help a lot because they help YOU relax which relaxes your body {uterus} and usually will bring on contractions more.

DONT USE CASTOR OIL. my friend was on the toilet all day. i dont know about the sex, and walking helps a little. here's the thing. your baby will come when he/she is ready. i was supposed to have my son induced May 18, 2006. I went into labor on May 14, 2006. i was not dialated the least bit on May 11, 2006, but my water broke that sunday. I was in labor from 9am til 7:46pm. i could not dialate, so i had a c-section. do not rush it. let it come naturally. trust me, i know how bad you want the baby out. once you hit that peak of being so pregnant you cant stand it, you will do anything to have the baby. DON'T RUSH IT!!! let it come naturally. just a few things. start cleaning your house now! i went into labor and my poor little house was in an uproar from trying to get babys things together. get plenty of rest now! you will need it.

I was told not to use caster oil because that just causes stomach pains, not labor pains. i was told to drink raspberry tea. i drank the premade stuff. I also did a lot of walking and my daughter was born 10 days early.

Sex worked for all of my 5 pregnancies. When the semen covers the cervix, it acts as a prostaglandin to ripen it.

Some women have gone right into labor after having an orgasm during sex, so a combination of semen on the cervix and orgasm for the woman started labor. This worked for me - but only when my body truly was ready to go into labor.

Some women have found that laughing hysterically helped them go into labor, and they suggest going out and getting a really funny movie to watch. I didn't try that one.

Walking only worked for me once my contractions started. During the first walk I went on, my contractions stopped. Then after lunch, I had my daughter do some acupressure on a certain area just above my ankle, and my contractions started again. I went for another walk, and the contractions continued, so I knew I was in labor, and not false labor.

Nipple stimulation works for some, but it didn't work for me. I tried with a breast pump, and manually.

Castor oil will only help if your body truly is ready to go into labor. If not, it will only make you miserable with diarrhea (at least that's what my midwife told me).

Blue Cohosh and Black Cohosh are used by midwives to start labor in women who are overdue.

Some women have found that they went right into labor within a day of starting it. You must be at least 38 weeks to start this as stated by the manufacturer.

And check out the resource below to learn how I prepared for my last birth, and how I dilated from 4cm to 10 cm in 1 hour. Red Raspberry leaf tea helped with that delivery.

All the best to you,
