Hi, hon, I know what it's like to worry over this stuff...I was terrified at one of my early ultrasounds because they said the baby's heart rate was a little on the slow side. But I'm 17 weeks pregnant now and just looked at my 6 week ultrasound print-out and my measurement at that time was only 2 mm. And my doctors have confirmed my pregnancy is healthy and progressing normally. (I'm having a girl!) So I wouldn't worry. Plus, hearing the heartbeat is a very good sign--it means your risk of miscarriage is now less than 5% (this is according to my doctor). Good luck!

Hi there...I am 39 weeks and 4 days pregnant...but my very first visit was at 5 weeks exactly. They tried to find a heartbeat via a vaginal ultra sound, and couldn't get one...talk about scary. They could see the baby, and also told me that it was measuring very small. Similar to your situation, they never said that anything was wrong, but they weren't very reassuring that everything was OK either. At 8 weeks I went back in and had a regular ultra sound. The heart beat was very strong but my baby was still measuring small. At 20 and 24 weeks they did another ultra sound each time and things still weren't where they "should" be. At 28 weeks everything had boomed and both baby and I were exactly where we should be. Now...she is huge, and healthy, and WON'T COME OUT!!! :)
On the other hand...my girlfriend is also pregnant and her baby was measuring large and healthy...and then at 28 weeks all of the measurements were to small, including the brain...I can only imagine how scared she was. However, now she is 37 weeks and her baby is also the perfect size, and perfectly healthy.
I don't tell you either story to scare you, only to let you see that your little baby is already an individual...and she is going to develop perfectly on time for her. But, it will all equal out in the end.
The biggest hurdle in pregnancy is hearing the heartbeat. THe chance for miscarriage is cut to less than a fifth once the heart has developed enough to produce an audible beat. Take care of your self and your baby. Being pregnant is the most awesome thing I have ever experienced...reguardless of morning sickness (or...all day sickness) or swollen feet...you are making a life...bask in that and enjoy the next 8 months...you deserve it!

Don't stress. If there were something wrong, the doctor would have told you. You are lucky to see a heartbeat this early, so that is a good sign. Stomach pains are normal. Try not to stress. A passive person doing the scan really just means everything was normal. They see normal babies every day so they don't get all excited about it. Its when something is wrong that they will want you to get extra tests and such.

hi, congratulations.
don't worry about the size right now, by the time you have your 12 week scan you may discover that you are in fact 13 or 14 weeks - the baby does a lot of growing in the first 12 weeks.
i am 22 weeks pregnant and use the website www.babycentre.co.uk to track the development of my baby.

i wouldnt worry as they found a heart beat and there doesnt appear to be any problems. all babies grow at different rates. at five and a half weeks pregnant it will be very very small. in the first twelve weeks the growth is not very quick as the baby is doing most of its developing into a human rather than growing alot. it will still grow obviously but as long as it is developing properly at each stage like it should then thats fine. By twelve weeks it is likely to be about 3 inches or the size of a plum. babies in the womb do most of their growing in the last/third trimester.

spotting after sex is quite commen. You may want to stop for a while. to make sure it stops again. If continues or gets worse then see a doctor. Sex would not of caused a serious problem and certainly would not cause you to miscarry. But no matter how much or little blood you should always keep an eye on it.

You saw the heartbeat that is a blessing. Just remain positive if you can. It is really early and there is not much medicine can do for you at this time. Just pray. I feel for you.
