Could be The Rolling Stones!

Aerosmith is a great band, and has been around for quite some time. But there are many touring bands that outdate them by a long shot.

The Stones had their first American hit in about 1964. They have been playing in one form or another since 1962 or so. Probably the most noteworth bad still playing after the Stones is the Grateful Dead. They started in 1966 and have survived the death of Jerry Garcia and still do concert tours as "The Dead."

Chicago Transit Authority (Chicago) started in 1967 is still one of America's greatest rock and roll bands.

The Who, also from about 1964 suffered the loss of Keith Moon and Jon Entwissle, but still performs sporadic tours every year.

The Temptations, 1960, probably the greates R&B group ever still performs regularly.

YES, formed 1968, probably the best of the second wave of English bands is still pretty much the same group it was then.

Regarded by millions to be the best Rock and Roll band ever, Queen has been touring since 1969.

Aerosmith didnt really hit the scene until 1972. AC/DC somewhere around 1975. There are a bunch of bands from the early sixties that still do reunion type tours and technically outdate those two bands in this category. It's actually kind of fun to think about it.

Do you mean been around the longest or puts on the longest concerts?

Been around the longest and still playing I would have to say Aerosmith, Ozzy, Rush

Puts on the longest concerts - bands like Metallica, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews, Greatful Dead are all known for putting on shows for 3+ hours - which is a long show.

I'm sure there are others but those are the ones off the top of my head.

The answer is the Rolling Stones, not mention that person who said the Beatles dont play really any more might want to see that they havent played a concert in 40 years now and that the Stones just came off a world tour, but the Stones come from about 1964.

The band that's been around the longest??? Then it would be the Stones.

Johny Cash was popular and releasing music for a long time, and kept doing so right up until he died.
