It is an emotional healing power. When one is touched in pain, or distress they feel comforted, and thereby the pain psychologically feels less painful.
When a person is on a respirator (as I have been) they do feel, and hear the people that visit, and talk to them. They feel loved, and it gives them an inspiration to want to fight for their life.
I was near death, but 7 years later, I am still alive and am enjoying my family, sisters, and brothers.
Yes it is an unconscious reaction.
Why is it when a toddler or a child falls, and hurts themselves as soon as you kiss them they feel better, and stop crying. Touching, and warmth of another person does have a definite degree of healing.

I am not overly demonstrative, I have not been well programed to touch uninvited except in a nurturing, nursing or emergency situation., I have been trained to keep my distance and respect personal spaces and to protect my own.
Having said this:
I know touching is a powerfull healing tool. Massage can alleviate all kind of ills, physical and emotional or mental..
Touch is instinctive in most family members..This is part of our life force and if we are denied touch from birth the deprivation can limit our lives. Deny a newborn touch the infant will not thrive. Touch is as necessary as food and shelter. It is a lonely life on an empty planet.

I can only speculate that's it's basically instinctive, & in some cultures more than others. It's also a very conscious "gesture" to those we care about, and/or love. More reassuring & comforting than any words. As for healing powers--that is so controversial, & because I haven't gotten much into it, I can't really comment. Yet, I don't see any "reason" why NOT. Energy flows between people, if they're receptive--I tend to think yes.

I think it's a conscious action. Yes, it's healing power in the action itself, not the hands. Love, emotion, sadness, forgiveness, positive affection of any kind when you are in some kind of pain is a healing property of ones soul.

There is a healing power in hands many are unaware of. There is also an influence in thought whether put into words or not.

Touch can heal, it can give assurance, it can harness positive energies. People who are more centered tend to have more sensitive sense of touch while those who are confused and unfocused will tend to resist being touched. Psychics touch objects of people to absorb their energies and their thoughts. Touch is a channel for good!

A touch of that kind can be very comforting. On the other edge of the spectrum, a certain touch can be violating, even if it's only your arm being touched, if the intent behind it is malicious.

yes. and we do know about it. Its called qi, and for some reason westerners just dont embrace it.
And not just injured areas either. Even if you are well, sex is very energizing, and often, especially in purberty, the subconscience reaction to touch the opposite sex comes natrually.
