You can't vote for pitchers on the ballot you are looking at now, but wait until the ballots close and you may be able to vote for a few pitchers during the second All-Star balloting campaign: The Final Vote

Ever since MLB started their "Final Vote" which was instituted after the tie All-Star game in Milwaukee to put more players on the rosters. Fans are able to choose from a list of 5 players per league, some of the players pitchers. In the past Roy Oswalt has been elected to the All-Star game from the final vote.

According to the page linked below, players vote on the pitchers for each team, while managers and the Commissioner's office will make the final selections to fill each roster and make replacements after the initial roster is selected.

Each team must have at least one player at the All Star Game, and the pitching staff is a popular way to find space for the lone reps from some of the less talented teams.

to tell you the truth i dont think the all-star is that important. Yes it does decide which league will have how field advantage. But its really for players to come together and have fun. But to answer your question, pitchers should be well rounded. You shouldnt have many wins but a high era and vise versa. As for the others postions they are usually chosen by how well they hit the ball. Not by there position. I think thats why they leave it up to the people because its really alot to think about when your chosing players for the all-star game

No the coaches pick the pitchers as well as the bench players. They also pick if somebody is injured and cannot play. The coaches of each team are usually the coaches from the previous World Series teams

You can write in pitchers, but such votes will be ignored.

Do it anyway and strike a blow for... for... um, for something. Baseball fandom. General assertiveness. Death to Seligula.

Really confuse the powers that be and write-in middle relievers.
