All that I remember about it is that it looks like a minature shark, it has a broad head for the size of its body, dark colored, and it chomps at the top of the water when you put food in the tank. It really stuck its nose out of the water when it was eating.

Quite possibly an iridescent shark. These guys don't stay small - they go up to around 2 feet or more, and the color lightens with age. See this photo for comparison: http://www.fishlore.com/profile-iridescentshark.htm

It could be a shark or possibly a catfish. There are many species suitable for aquariums. Google it and look at the pictures.

Most likely a bottom feeder, could be a shark, it even could be a cichlid, i am not sure, but a catfish would be the most likely answer.
