Try "This much I know is True" . Not mainly about addiction, but has a major part, and very good.
Also "Rush"- Excellent! And I've read other books by the same author, they are also. Her name's Sue W.-(gotta get the name, sorry )She's a former police officer who became addicted while working as an undercover narcotics officer.

There's a book "Kids from the ZOO station" (Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo) written by a teenage girl Christianne F. It's about teenagers on heroin in late 1970's Berlin. And it's a true story. An excellent book.

Fear and Loathing in Los Vegas by the late Hunter S. Thompson. Another kind of freaky book is "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." It's a great read.
