Russia is in really bad shape. I mean we outspent them into oblivion. Now their society has crumbled around them. It seems the only was the Russian government can make money is by selling arms. Many Russians would like to have the old ways back (I guess they spent time in a Gulag). Putin, like the premiers before him is KGB. That alone should tell you something. Times are changing Russia and appear to be gradually heading toward the old way. I don't know about the Communism part, but talking about going back to another dictatorship. Many of those with democratic leaning are slowly being weeded out of the government. Russia has always been under some type of dictatorship. First the tsars and the the Communist bullies. That is what Puting wants Russia to be-the biggest Bully on the block.

Not sure what country you are from. But if you are from the US....have you looked in the White House lately. He isn't the most popular of people.
On the other hand, Putin is ex-KGB. He has no intention of letting his power go, he is going to do anything he can to stay in power. You watch there will be major problems in that country soon and it will relate to his actions. And the people in Russia are not so easy going as they are in Hugo land.

Countries oppose the US so the democrats will appease them later on. It worked well for N. Korean with Bill Clinton, and again lately.

Because he has had an uneventful stint as Russia's lead and not accomplished much. He's a Lame Duck so he's stirring the pot.
