I used to have the same problem. Take prenatal vitamins. They help your nails (and hair) grow faster and stronger. For quicker results use horse hoof cream and I don't mean the beauty supply versions. You can go and get a giant tub for $10 (mine has lasted over a year so keep an eye on exp dates and some contain oils that can turn rancid). I use mine a night because it takes a bit to absorb. I also use a cutical oil in the morning. Both have the duel purpose because the process of rubbing it in also increases circultaiton. I used to bite my nails and when I finally stopped they were so weak and nasty I couldn't stand it. Know they are healthy and strong. People often won't believe they are real.

What's in your diet? You should try drinking plenty of water and milk or a calcium supplement. Both will help in keeping your nails strong. Use a polish that will aid in healthy nails..stay away from colored polish until nails are strong again. Remember natural is always best! Try Sally's Beauty Supply for the best nail care products. Good Luck!

First, start using a hair, skin and nails supplement like Perfectil. Then get yourself to a shop that sells Sally Hansen products. They are very reasonably priced and highly effective. I use the Cuticle massage cream as keeping cuticles soft looks better and moisturised nails are healthier. I also use two nail varnishes in the range. Diamond Strength Instant Nail Hardener (which you should use for no more than a week per month as nails can get too brittle and snap- PAINFUL!) and Nailgrowth Miracle which is great for the rest of the month. All of these are readily available.
Avoid immersing nails in water for too long, use a hand cream (still searching for my perfect one, my Vaseline Intensive care do a good one) and ALWAYS have some varnish on your nails as it will protect them.

A lot of nail polish companies have polish that strengthens your nails. Just go to Target or Wal-Mart [any drug store too] and just browse the nail polish section. You are sure to find something! =]

I haven't had much luck w/ nail polishes for hardening nails. I've gotten better results by doing the following:
I only use a nail file to shape and shorten them - never a nail clipper.
Protect your nails with thicker moisturizers to protect them from exposure to water which dries them out & makes them brittle.
Try Revlon's disposable files made for weak nails. File in one direction only. Start on one side and file towards the middle, then go to the other side and file towards the middle of your nail. Smooth the nail into a squoval that mirrors you cuticle or the shape of the white part of your nail bed.
Finish the edges of the nail with a hindo stone, a smooth ceramic/stone nail file or the finest grit nail file you can find. You want to make the edges really smooth.
Also, avoid using metal nail files. I recommend using disposable nail files and changing them frequently. The fresher the grit, the less the drag which leads to tearing and peeling.
I also use a cuticle balm or nail oil to moisturize my nails and protect them from water since I wash my hands frequently.
(ex. Solar Oil, OPI Avoplex)
Vit E oil, jojoba oil, Aquaphor Healing Ointment, Vaseline or plain Chapstick will work too.
Avoid products w/ formaldehyde or toluene, they are very hard on nails.
Some women swear by taking pre-natal vitamins.

Sally Hansen makes nail strengtheners. They work fairly well, but usually only last as long as you are using the product. I would suggest a quality vitamin. Normally weak and brittle nails are a sign of a deficiency in your diet.

There is no special polish I know of. I know that if you are not getting enough nutrients especially calcium then your nails will not grow and become very thin. You might want to evaluate your diet.

polishes willl only temporarily harden your nails...until they get wet, last a day, etc. etc. I use skin, hair & nails I purchase from www.swansons.com It's a multi vitamin (about $5.00) I take once a day & works wonders. My nails grow long & strong.
