If they both are inverted, or soft, and have always been this way, this is perfectly normal, especially if they harden when you get cold or are manually stimulated.

If it is a sudden occurrence, or only one nipple has started to do this, then it could be an indicator of a problem which should be assessed by your doctor immediately.

I don't think its really common, but its not abnormal or anything. I think its actually a genetic trait that some people have, you know, kinda like an innie or outie belly button.

I don't think this is something that is common. I have even heard that such a condition might be a sign of disease like cancer.
