Do you actually have a video card? Alot of computers come with an integrated video card, which is suited for only simple desktop applications.

Ooh! I know you feel! When I first got the game it took FOREVER to load, I would actually start it and go do something else and then come back because it took so long! It was also pretty slow during the game too. What I think it is, is just your video card. Its part of your computer which I guess displays the visual images in games and stuff. See if you can talk to someone at radio shack or somewhere about installing a newer and more advanced one! Im guessing that that should speed things up! Also, try closing all other programs before you launch the game, liks msn and yahoo messenger and that sort of stuff. I hope this helps and that thins improve because that really can get annoying!! Good luck! :)

If your Sims 2 Game, ran fine sometime in the past, then the contents found within the game maybe slowing down the loading and processing of the games graphics and functions such as not being able to barely move on your lots. Remove some of the past addons to your game (such as custom contenet to remedy this situation) If there is a program running other then The Sims 2 while your playing the game then this too can impeed the speed of the game. Close All programs prior to running The Sims 2 If you just downloaded the game and you have never ran it before on your Computer be sure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements below: (Not meeting one or more of the requirements below can result in The Sims 2 not running at full potential) Try Going into Graphics Settings and tweaking them a bit, closest to the lower settings to increase the speed. If you have a T&L capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM (such as nVidia GeForce 2 or better or ATI Radeon 7200 or better) then you need at least: * 600 MHz P3 processor * 256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, or Windows 2000 * 128 MB RAM if Windows 98 If you have a non-T&L capable video card (such as TNT2 or Intel Integrated) then you need at least: * 1.5 GHz processor * 256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, or Windows 2000 * 128 MB RAM if Windows 98 Recommended video cards (and the more video memory the better): * ATI Radeon 9800 Pro * nVidia GeForce 4 or FX series cards

You may have to defragment the computer to add more space to make the game play better and run faster. When you defragment the computer itself, it might take a couple of hours to do, but it'll be worth it once you get the defregmenting done. I've done this before and it cleared a whole lot of space on my uncle's computer. Before I did it, his computer had under 50% free space, but not it has somewhere between 60-80% free space.

Its because Sims Games require alot of Memory and use up alot of space, so the more Sims Games you have on the less Memory space you have left on your Computer so it goes slower.

Assuming that your system meets the minimum game requirements (which at currently standards are fair to sub par).
Ensure that you close any many other programs as possible before loading (eg. virus scanner, messenger programs yahoo msn etc., other none essential programs on your menu, quicktime, kazaa etc.)

Your computer is either low on memory. I suggest increasing the size of your virtual memory.
OR, you can try downloading updated drivers for your video card.

mine is the exactly the same, but I have an oldish machine. you will need to upgrade to optimize, EA have gone over the top with this one. but that's a good thing because it's a great game.

before starting sims2, restart your computer. if this doesn't help much, try and clean up your files. or delete uneeded families or towns. it may help to reinstall the game. good luck.
