the puritans came to the new land to escape religous persecution in England in 1620. Remember Plymoth Rock? Jamestown. Any of this ring a bell?

There were some Catholics on the Mayflower that came in 1609 according to some recent Holy Crosses indicating there were Catholics on board, which were excavated by archeaologists in the area.

Spanish Monk Junipero Serra (Famous Saint) didn't come until the 1750s and established his missions in California.

B. Spanish started the whole conquest of the " New World " area. Therefore they tried their best to force the Native American - First Nation People to accept their ways including Religion.
