I have a cat, and of course when nature calls, he uses the litter box. I clean the litter box after he goes, but the room the litter box in just smells like pee 24/7. Like, its in the carpet or something. I vacuum and febreze it all the time. Any odor stuff just works temporarily. I need to know how to get the smell out of the carpet.

try to locate where it is the strongest. once that is done use A TON of fabreeze and that stuff, and open some windows while ur at it. You could try to put water on it and scrub it off. This normally works for my cat. Then put ur litter box in like the basement or sumthing.

Odor Ban pretty good cleaner, but then-I found the perfect product for this that I've used for years and know dozens of other people that use it. It is a product called FRIDGE IT carbon odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great and eliminates the odors and for a long time. It works so much better than baking soda all those sprays, and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. and gels and oils that say keep away from fabric, pets, etc. and just don't eliminate odors. Just hang a couple of these on litter box and around room. Each only costs a couple of dollars. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it and also internet. Definitely worth trying

Try Woolite Pet Oxygen Stain and Odor Remover. It's made for carpets and upholstery and I've used it with great success.
It cleans the stain and takes away the odor that says to your baby, go ahead, pee here!

Also, you can sprinkle baking soda in the kitty litter, that helps with the localized odor.

You mention that your cat is a he, has he had his little operation? Non neutered males often have a stronger smelling urine some of that might odor may be reduced once he's "fixed"

Your cat may not be using the carpet as a litterbox. The odor is probably in the cat litter, NOT the carpet!

If you use very cheap clay cat litter, the urine remains in the box when you scoop, it just gets broken up and mixed in the remaining litter. The odor lingers.

Spend a little and get a good "scoopable" clumping litter (like Tidy Cat Scoopable). Then, when you scoop, the urine all comes out of the box in a hard little clump, and is disposed of.

Scoopable litter costs more, but you use less of it, so it is worth it.

Get rid of all the cheap litter in the box, replace it with scoopable litter, ventilate the room, and I bet you'll have no problem! Good luck!

My litterbox, and the room it is in, used to smell like cat urine all the time until I switched to scoopable litter. I have FIVE cats, and NO litterbox odor now!

Rent or borrow a carpet cleaner and try that, but if he went on the floor, it's more than likely soaked into the carpet pad and floor. You would then need to pull up carpet and pad, wash thoroughly with soapy bleach water, and replace the pad and carpet. Or maybe throw down some cheap peel n stick tile around the litter box? :)

Nature's Miracle or Borax. Nature's Miracle is a natural, non-toxic biodegradeable solution you can get at pet and discount stores. It has enzymes that literally "eat" the bacterial that causes the odor. It is cheaper than Zero Odor, OdorOut, UrineGone or any of the other ones advertised on the infomercials. Borax will absorb the odor but not remove the bacteria in the urine that causes the odor. Eventually, you will walk up the odor from the padding, so you will have to constantly apply borax to control the odor.

Use baking soda in the little box and maybe get a bathroom rug you can wash for under the box.... Sprinkle your carpet with baking soda leave overnight and vacuum that should help....Or put the litterbox in a place that's not carpeted...I like the Oust airfresheners....Especially the fan you can put it anywhere it's battery operated....

'Zero Pet Odor' works really well. It costs about $20 and it's available online. Also, what kind of litter do you use? I find using Feline Pine or Pine Fresh works well. They are both made from saw dust pellets and there is no odor. One bag costs about $3 and lasts a whole month.

Use some air fresheners that automatically spray like every 5mins or 30mins (your choice). An example is Air Wick Freshmatic Automatic Spray. Go down to your local Tesco or Sainsburys to get good deals.
