If we touch the power line we will get electrocuted, but if a bird be flying and land on a power lind they will not get electrocuted. Why birds don't get electrocuted from the power line? Monkeys and other animals will get electrocuted.

Birds don't get electocuted because they are not grounded. See if you jumped up and grabbed on to the power line, as long as your feet didn't touch the ground or anything that would ground you then you'd be fine. But, the minute you touch something that will ground you to complete the circuit your FRIED! So as long as the birds don't touch anything to complete the cirucit their fine.

As the first answerer said, you have to be grounded. i.e. foot on the ground or touching anything that is sitting on the ground. When I was 10 years old I was walking home from school and a utility repairman was working on the power line in front of our neighbor's house. As I was coming across the bridge by my house my mother came out screaming for me and my brother to turn around and don't look up. Of course being kids we kept walking and we looked up right away and what we saw was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life - the utility man was getting electrocuted. When my mother had seen him and tried to get us not to look, he was still doing okay - he had slipped and was hanging from a live wire, but did not get electrocuted until his foot (while he was trying to adjust his position to get a better hold on the wire) hit the basket he had gone up to the line in -right when we looked up. He was electrocuted instantly. It was horrible because no one could do anything to help him until the utility company shut off the power, and he just hung there for almost an hour.

I think you'll only get electrocuted if you are grounded in some way.
