Generally they want you to "stuff" envelopes with self addressed stamped envelopes from other people interested in whatever product they're trying to peddle.

BULL! Most co's who do mailings have automatic envelope stuffing machines. They fold the material, stuff and seal the envelopes and apply the postage.
Why would they pay someone to stuff envelopes at home?

one of the oldest cons on record. we have a stuffing machine we use here at work - folds 'em, stuffs 'em, seals 'em, and stamps 'em. we don't outsource - it's simply not economically feasible. no way we could afford to send them to you and pay you.
