please don't be such critics, answering that i or he should grow up, that we're both immature in this situation i want advises, not be judged my people.
the problem is my partner doesn't like the name i chose for our baby(I'm 5 month on the way). i'm very much in love with the name Brien(bra-yen) coz i think its unique. but my partner doesn't like it coz he said it reminds him of my ex(name's bernard).my partner's name is roderick and he said the name brien doesn't have any similarities with his name. i know he's just jealous and i can't convince him to like the name. i even told him so many times that i didn't based the name to the first initial of my ex(who i hardly think about, and i cheated just to be with my current partner, him!
what can i tell him to win this battle and convince him to like the name? i really like the name brien!

Well, this is the thing about having a baby with someone, Its both of yours,, which means, if hes not happy with the baby's' name, then you change it. until its something both of you like.. It goes both ways.. if he wanted the baby named after something that reminds you of poop, then he would be flexible too. Why are you gonna risk him hating your baby's name? I say name the baby Derick Brian ....... So both of you can be happy. Id doesn't matter if the ex means nothing to you, it obviously means something to him.

Brien and Bernard don't sound anything alike! I think it's a great name. Even tho he may be acting childish and pety to you it's his child too and we need to consider his feelings.

There are tons of websites you can both go to and search for a name together. Maybe if he see's you're not so dead set on Brien he may lighten up and reconsider it.

Why dont you try using the first name Brien and the middle name Roderick. Maybe that will change his mind. Or something that similar to him.

compromise.
find a name he likes and put them together. or let him pick out the middle name. OR let him pick out the first name and use brien as the middle name

In my family the one that carries the load for 9 months chooses. BUT I did add some his family names in that I liked.
Now as far as the name? When I read it , I see 'Bree-in'.
My step daughter is "Kebra"(dunno how that came about) People pronounce it 'keebra' but it's Debra but with a K.
Just a thought for ya there future mama!

let your partner have his say

also, the spelling of it will never have it pronounced correctly, hopefully your child isnt shy, since they'll always have to be correcting people. I couldnt even tell from bra-yen - if it was bra as in brazierre or bray-yen.

Do you have any other names picked out because you need to compromise and find a name you BOTH like. If he doesn't like it then I would try to find another name that you both like.

Choose another name. You both need to agree on the name or you'll have continuous problems.
