Since there are concerns about releasing chemicals into your home, I'd recommend using natural oils - I use a few drops of lavender oil on a dish of little stones, which smells wonderful. The oil is quite expensive but it lasts for ages. Opening the window is good too!

On BBC News 24 this morning an 'expert' said that artificial things such as air fresheners upset our natural immune systems.Particles in the chemicals given out by these monsters attach themselves to the resistant cells in our lungs and weaken them.Same goes for carpet fresheners, car smellies etc!!

My favorite thing to do in summer is stick a bounce dryer sheet to my box fans. Whether it's in a window or just circulating air in the house, If you place one on the backside of your fan (the suction will keep it in place when on) it will distribute a fresh clean smell throughout the house! ;)
