"Some say Iran is like a lion. It's seated quietly in a corner. We advise them not to play with the lion's tail."

Or just simply mad, provocative or having ill-intent from the go?

Iran has been under the control of radical leaders since 1979. President Amaginedad (SP?) has repeatedly vowed "to wipe Israel off the map" as did his predecessors. Since 1948 the middle east has hated Israel and if Iran ever gets a nuclear weapon they certainly would not hesitate at eradicating Israel and most likely that would bring on WW III

Since the revolution, Iran has invaded American soil, held Americans hostage for over a year, fought a long, brutal bloody war with a neighbor, oppressed segments of it's own socieity, supported various terrorist organizations through which it launched numerous attacks against America and it's allies, used one of those terrorists puppets, Hezbollah, to undermine the sovreignity of Lebanon (and nearly succeeded, and is poised to try again), built up it's military, provided weapons to Shiite insurgents in Iraq, developed increasingly sophisticated ballistic missles, and agressively persued nuclear weapons.

And that's just the stuff I've heard of and remember. I'm sure one could dig up a lot more if you wanted to do the research.

But, asside from it's actions over the past 28 years, and the fact that it's a Theocracy, sure, it may otherwise be blameless.

While the United States tries to practice democracy within its borders and actively encourages democratic processes within the borders of other nations, it's safe to say that the interaction between nations at the international level looks more like a monarchy with the U.S. at the head and a handful of nations serving as a parliament.

When such a small group of nations has the power and privilege...Can you imagine being one of the others? Sure, most countries simply deal, but I'm sure the exclusion is rightly maddening for others. Iran is one of these nations, proud and modern but held down by the major powers.

The U.S. should tread carefully with Iran, certainly. With troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, we'd have our asses handed to us if we tried to add Iran to that list. It's bigger than Iraq and Afghanistan together, plenty wealthy and it's military is NO JOKE.

Crazy President or not, Iran as a nation commands respect.

I dont think they are in the right. I think they are crazy.

I have no problem with them using nuclear power like they say but you cant trust them to actually do what they say. If they let someone middle country (not the US or UK but one that both sides could agree on) come in and make sure they are doing what they claim I wouldnt have a problem. However they have a long history of violence with themselves, Iraq, Jews, and the western world. The people that run that country are crazy. Sooner or later someone will call them out on their big talk. Will they back down or fight? Judging by past history I would say they will fight. It will be ugly. I dont think they will win but they will try at all costs where the western countries will not want to do this.

Iran is certainly not in the right. However, they also make a valid point about whether we have or don't have the right to judge as of late. Human indencies are carried out all over the world every day and until we can set the example then we certainly should not point fingers.

Iran is more like a drunken redneck on the other side of the bar. Talks alot of crap from the other side of the bar and before the night is out will force you to knock them into next week.

They are a sovereign nation, and have not had any major confrontations with any other nation of late. Why should we be the deciders of who and who can't have nuclear power or capabilities?
