When I went to Kauai about three years ago there didn't seem to be a HUGE nightlife. However, some of the bars and restaurants are fun at night. Go to Poipu beach- It is amazing. There is a restaurant on the beach there with great margaritas. Explore the island, snorkel/scuba, take a helicopter ride, visit the black sand beach, visit the napali coast, lots of great shopping. If you spend your days exploring the island, you will be too tired to go out at night!

There is very little night life, some hotel bars are open late or restaurants but that is about it. People don't go to Kauai for the nightlife. However if you are an outdoors kind of person, you will find plenty to do during the day. Lots of hiking, canoe, snorkeling, diving, tours, etc.
Kauai is a beautiful place to visit, you will be very happy. Just keep in mind it is also very slow paced and lay back.
