Tell him. Tell him that hygiene is important for everyone and that he is presenting a very poor image of himself. Tell him that he is a grown man not a child and he should not have to be coaxed into taking care of himself

My husband tried to skip out on a shower a few times ....I just got myself in the middle of the bed and when he headed my way I asked him if he was crazy and pointed to the shower. The first few times he looked at me funny now he knows better.

Does he have some secret phobia against water?
It does sound like he's avoiding something, but what?
If gentle coaxing doesn't work...try these
I wouldn't let him sit anywhere in the house. Put newspaper on all the furniture and light a bunch of candles.
Give him a bar of soap and the hose. Tell him he can't come in until he's clean.....
If all else fails...leave him

In the evening, as he is coming up to the house all tired and greasy from another day of working hard and looking forward to a cold one in his easy chair and a nice warm dinner in his belly, turn on the hose and hit him with a cold shower!!!

This is sad, but it worked for me. Tell him you were thinking about having sex, ask if he is going to have a shower, if he says no, then say never mind to the sex. If he says yes, hop in there and scrub his back for him. I know a wife shouldnt use sex for everything, but sometimes you have to try what works. Men usually will do anything if they think it will end up with him getting laid. Good luck

Tell him that you really like the way he smells right after he showers.
If that is not enough, tell him that it bothers you that he does not smell so good. See if you can get him to shower after work. Remind him that his job is physical and that he needs a shower after all that hard work.
Take care,
Troy

I would definitely tell your husband, in a nice way, that personal hygiene is very important to you and he is falling short of your minimum requirements.
You might also observe him to see if he is suffering from stress or depression. If so, you might want to get him to see the doctor about it. There are medications he can take that will help and there are also exercises he can do to assist in recovery from depression.
If this is something he has always done, then I say good luck to you in changing his behavior at this late date.

Explain to him how you feel about him taking a shower EVERYDAY and offer to shower with him and even help wash him up.

Make him sleep in the basement, eat out of a bowl on the floor and don't give him any sex. If he doesn't want to shower but wants to live like an animal, then treat him like one. He sure as hell wouldn't be in my bed smelling like...ugh.

You should sit down and talk to him about it. My dad does the same thing. They say this kind of behavior is really a form of depression. Try talking to him about it. Just making fun of him want help. Just let him know that you are concerned and tell him how you feel. Maybe he is just having a rough time. It has to be deeper than him just not feeling like bathing.
