I'm a mother of two. And for those of you out there who do not know, yes babies can experience diarrhea while teething. But for you mom since it's been two weeks. Just to be safe, you should take him to the doctor. Let them check him to make sure that it's nothing else. like a stomach virus. They may even prescribe something to help him with the diarrhea. Until then make sure that he stays hydrated. Give him lots of fluid and watch him.

Teething and diarrhea is unrelated.

Diarrhea is most commonly caused by viral infections or bacterial toxins. In sanitary living conditions and with ample food and water available, an otherwise healthy patient typically recovers from the common viral infections in a few days and at most a week. However, for ill or malnourished individuals diarrhea can lead to severe dehydration and can become life-threatening without treatment. Diarrhea can also be caused by dairy intake in those who are lactose intolerant.

Infants chew on objects to aid in the teething process. This can be dangerous if the baby is allowed to chew on objects which are small enough to be swallowed or which could break while being chewed, creating a risk of choking.
Teething rings and other toys are often designed with textures that will appeal to an infant during teething. When the child is teething, he will put any thing in his mouth to chew on.

What you have to do is monitor him very closely so that he does not put anything in his mouth. That is where he get the diarrhea from. Make sure the surrounding is clean. I would not recommend a pacifier for him unless you monitor him with it. So that if he drops it he does not pick it up and put it in his mouth before it is cleanse.

It could be anything he's eating, not just his milk. My son is allergic to soy, cannot handle dairy, and oatmeal and apples give him diarrhea. My son had diarrhea for about 4 months (not severe, and only once or twice per day) until I figured out the oatmeal/apple thing. teething can cause it too, but not to that severity. For my son, it almost has no smell and is the kind that burns the hide off of him if I don't catch it quickly. Have you ever had him allergy tested? for foods? Start with his ped. to ask what they think could be causing this. It never hurts to go ahead and make an appointment with an allergy/asthma specialist, and ask for a broad spectrum test. If he's having intolerances, they won't show up in the testing, just true allergies. I would only give him easy to digest things. It sounds like his gut is extremely irritated. Stick with plain chicken, white rice, broth, sweet potatoes (bake them plain in the oven), rice chex, etc. I would lay off milk of any kind for a few days to let his system heal. Just give him water. Good luck to you! I hope you're able to find some answers soon!

My son had diarrhea while he was teething too, he only had it for a week though. Other moms I talked to said their kids got diarrhea too while teething. The doctor said there is no connection. I assume it has something to do with the fact that a teething baby puts everything in his/her mouth thus picking up more germs. Two weeks is a long time though. Be sure you are keeping the child hydrated. Good luck.

I had three kids and none of them ever had diarreha from teething! I think your child has a stomach bug or something. Have you been to the Dr. or called the Dr or anything? Two weeks is a long time for a baby to have diarreha.

I don't understand why you think his diarrehas from teething? If you have the diarreha for two weeks would you not go to the doctor? The diarreha has nothing to do with teething.Take that poor baby to the doctors before he gets dehydrated. The homeopathic med.not helping now is it.

I'm not sure whether it would continue or not. Neither one of my kids had diarrhea with their teething. But twoo weeks is a bit long even when it supposed to be "normal" It is a good idea to talk to the pediatrician about it, and give him lots and lots fo apple juice and pedialyte. The apple juice will help stop it. I assume you have started feeding him , so feed him bananas , pears and keep him away from dark juices, plenty of fuilds, vegetables and rice, plenty of rice that will help him hold his vowels.

You need to take him to a doctor to help with this symptom. An infant can very quickly become severely dehydrated from diarrhea and should not be allowed to suffer this long from it. It may not even BE the teething, but may have a totally different cause. PLEASE get him some help.
