It really depends on how the PCOS affects your cycle and your body. It's possible, but not likely. PCOS often means that ovulation isn't happening, and if ovulating isn't happening, then it's impossible to become pregnant. That's not always the case though, and some women with PCOS ovulate without medication, and can become pregnant without assistance. Some women find that changes to diet and exercise habits can help with insulin and blood sugar issues that can contribute to the lack of ovulation. Some women find that Vitex (chaste berry) may help them ovulate.
It's important to realize though, that the consequences of untreated PCOS can be more significant than just reproductive system related. The irregular periods and the failure of the endometrium (uterine lining) to shed may contribute to endometrial cancer. The hormonal imbalances can contribute to things like high cholesterol and high blood pressure, which can have serious and long term consequences, as well as a higher risk for diabetes.
Medications that control insulin like glucophage can help treat a great deal of the symptoms and reduce the risk of some of the complications from PCOS. Glucophage isn't the only option-some women find that using other, similar, insulin reducing medications like Byetta or Avandia may help more and have different side effects.
