I can't help you with the video card. All those techie specs confuse me, but I'm sure someone else can.
I can explain the differences between the games, however.
First, it doesn't matter which one you buy. All the games are stand alone. If you really enjoy the game, you'll want to buy all 3 anyways. If you already have a friend that plays, then buy the same game that he/she has so you'll be able to play together.
Guild Wars Prophecies - This was the first game, so that's a good reason to choose it. It has a slower leveling curve than the other games and a longer tutorial section. It's also the longest game of the three. It has a European medieval style theme and a variety of different landscapes. (Desert, jungle, snowy mountains, tropics)
Factions - This game is the shortest and it has a lot of PvP aspects to it that the others don't. The overall theme is Asian.(This actually was the first game I bought, and I enjoyed it) Most people won't recommend that you start here.
Nightfall - This is the most recent game. It has an African savannah feel to it. Some folks will recommend this game because it includes "heroes". These are computer controlled henchmen that will belong to your character and will fight along side you. Unlike the normal "henchmen" in the other games, heroes are completely customizable and therefore make better fighters to complete quests and missions with.
Personally, I like to start at the beginning, so I'd recommend Prophecies unless you have a friend playing one of the other chapters.

Well, I have an Nvidia 4000 MX 128MB Graphics Card, I get the occasional lag, but it does ok. I would suggest getting either GW: Prophecies (a.k.a. the original) which is very good and has the smoothest learning curve. Factions is not all that great, the only good thing about it is some extra skills and 2 exclusive classes (Assassin and Ritualist). I recently bought Nightfall and I'm really having fun on it. It has loads of new skills and a great story so far. But, if I had just jumped into Nightfall I don't think I'd enjoy it as much as the enemies get tough quick. So, in conclusion, I would get Prophecies first to get to know the GW universe, and then (unless you REALLY want a few extra skills and the Assassin/Ritualist class) I would move into Nightfall, the story in Factions is not really worth it.
P.S. All the games have virtually the same PvP as it takes place on "remote" islands.

Porphocies-Well i think that proph (prophecies) has the best story and it is the longest no question there. I haven't played to far into factions or nightfall even thought i got both of them shortly after they had came out. Because proph is the best to buy, it has kept me entertained for a few years now. Also, you said you were goping to get one for the first time so i would suggest proph again because it has the best "Tutorial" on how to play the game. Sure you won't level up to fast but its a ton of fun and it will be worth it to learn how to play the game right.
Factions-Its almost entierly centered around PvP play because when they released it they also included AB's. Or Alliance Battles. When your guild diecied on an alliance, Luxon or Kurzick (Go luxon! ^^) they will be able to play 12 vs 12 battles against characters of the other alliance. That is the only thing that i value in factions, even though assassins are usefull in completing runs, farms and other money making skills.
Nightfall- I have heard many great things about this chapter of the guild wars history. The heros are a nice addition but not really worth spending the extra $20 (Thats another good thing about proph, its $20 cheaper because its almost a year older) Anyways... Heros arent' too usefull because real human characters serve a better purpose in missions or exploring. I haven't played it too much so i can't really say too many bad things about it, except how come no one plays paragons!?!?!?

well, as far as the video card goes you should be ok, the game requires atleast 32mb of ram on the video card, and I think that's the same video card that was in my lap top and it ran just fine on there.
As far as game play your going to find the most content in the original game for pve, and the back bone of the pvp is in that too. You'll have access the most pvp content through factions. My recommendation if you want plenty of pve content though is get all three.

Guild Wars is unique in that the "Expansions" do now no longer elect the backside pastime to play them. so which you will in basic terms bypass purchase Factions and play that. surprising here is what you get from diverse video games: Guild Wars (Base pastime): 6 center training: Necromancer, Elementalist, Monk, Warrior, Ranger, Mesmer Tyria continent Guild Wars Factions: 6 center training 2 Factions training (murderer and Ritualist) Cantha continent Guild Wars nightfall: 6 center training 2 nightfall training (Dervish and Paragon) Elona content fabric fabric Guild Wars Eye of the North: This one is slightly distinctive as this is incredibly a style, meaning you will elect a minimum of 1 in each and each of diverse video games to play it. Its in many circumstances consumer-friendly around max element content fabric fabric, and greater advantageous dungeons. see you later tale short, helpful you will get greater advantageous character training and greater advantageous zones & quests from procuring extra acceptable than one pastime. diverse than for Eye of the North, you do now no longer -have- to purchase greater advantageous acceptable than one pastime besides the reality that.
