I have wrote a couple of novels I want published but i'm a nobody and wanted to see what people would think of my writing style and if it needed some work... I then wrote two short stories that I have had on my mind for a while. Heres the question:

Does anyone know any short story magazines or what nots in NYC or in the US that you can send short stories to? Or even websites you can send short stories to? (and get criticized for your work)

And when trying to publish them, should you do it under a pen name at first or use your real name?

Your best option is to locate a copy of the Writer's Market Novel and Short Story book and select the best publisher or agency suited for your manuscript. Follow the submission guidelines exactly as well as check out their websites' guidelines.

As to whether or not to use a pen name or your real name is a choice you will have to make.

heavily, I purely %. up a e book if it seems attractive. i will no longer even understand the author's call till some years later while i'm staring blankly on the conceal, attempting to keep in mind what the e book grow to be approximately. i assume there are people who pay greater interest than me(LOL) so i individually locate L.G Smith a stable call. For all they understand, "L" can stand for Lucy or Lucas. :) If it have been me finding up a pen call(which I might desire to do quickly sufficient), i could seem into something unisex and catchy. i've got heard of a pen call like "Levon Lovelock" (L-eh-von). nevertheless to this present day, I have no thought if this author is a guy or woman. :P stable luck.

I suggest you attend a writing class or contact a writing instructor with your local 2 year or 4 year college in your area. You'll learn many new skills and while in the classroom you'll be critiqued. Also the instructor can give you names of publishing companies that you may contact.

I strongly suggest taking a writing course first. Have fun.
