The enamel on rodent's teeth has a higher iron content than human tooth enamel. This makes it more resistant to acid. When tooth enamel dissolves in acid (from bacteria that live in the mouth), it allows the formation of a cavity on the tooth. Thus the evolutionary explanation is that hamsters don't have to go to the dentist as often because of their yellow teeth!

There is no evolutionsary reason behind this. Hamsters don't brush their teeth, don't bleech their teeth, and don't care about the color of their teeth like we do.
If human don't brush/bleech the teeth, they would have yellow teeth as well.
By the way, there is nothing wrong for having yellow teeth. That's the message that you should teach your child as well.

1] Hamsters are not designed to have beautiful teeth like people. If they had bright white teeth, predators could see them easier, so they would never be able to tell jokes!
2] Hamsters don't brush their teeth - Santa never puts any in their stockings!
3] Hamsters never go to the dentist - so don't feed them any sweets!
4] They never get any money from the tooth fairy, either.

lol good question , as some one said hamsters don't clean there teeth, they don't need to , because their used to biting hard foods, their teeth wear down and regrow on a constant basis ( does the hamster bite the bars of his cage?, its stimulating growth ) make sure you have one of them hard salt lick things for it to gnaw on this should help its teeth stay strong and relatively clean

I don't know, but I used to wonder that when I was a kid. Those little yellow teeth are mighty sharp, though, so keep your hamster hand-tame by handling him a lot, and don't annoy him!!

We clean our teeth because they are the only ones we get. rodents constantly grow theirs so need to chew, they don't need to worry about cleaning them as they are replaced constantly.
I have six year old twins so understand the challenge of answering questions.
