You could tell him it's a chick magnet. Also, stop dressing up like Warcraft characters. He just wants you to be normal, dust off that old baseball mitt.

You don't say how old you are or whose paying for it or who's computer it's going onto.
He probably means well but you're in for a hard time. If you want him to pay for it or buy it for you, then he most likely doesn't want to spend that much on something that will see you sitting in front of a computer for hours on end.
I'm not sure what your relationship with him is like. Has he ever let you get any other games? If so then maybe it's the war aspect of the game that he doesn't approve of. Again, how old are you?
You may not be able to convince him unless you find out what his reasons are. Ask your mom (I'm assuming she's alive and lives with you) to help you find out. Then take it from there. Maybe you can negotiate a deal.
But you're living under his roof and his rules. And this won't be the only time he'll forbid you to do something.

Don't do it.. people get too involved in the game and end up losing their friends, their jobs, their social lives.. even their health and eventually die from it.

I pasted a couple websites below. It's a great game if you're into PVP, otherwise it's just a timesink... Both ways it's a complete waste of time.

Think about how many people are playing that, in two years when the game shuts down or starts to make less money than it can put into the amount of servers and it starts consolidating servers, are going to commit suicide or something because they wasted 8 years of their lives on an online personae and it's now all they have?

LoL...

Addiction is the sign of a weak mind.. E.G. cigarette smokers

Wait for your birthday, and let me tell you, 1/2 of the problem is convincing your dad to get it for you, the other 1/2 of your battle is going to be convincing him that you can stay addicted to the computer, playing the game 24/7. Oh yes, and the $1.99 free two week trial CD at Gamestop might help to convince him to let you try it for free for 2 weeks.

Tell him that just about anything that isn't work is a "waste of time" but we all need entertainment to keep ourselves happy and healthy.

The monthly fee is probably cheaper than renting movies, buying CDs, going out to play pool or watching a movie at the theater as a form of entertainment.

Also tell him that it will keep you at home where he will always know where you are instead of out with your friends in unknown places.

I would tell my kids to get a job to pay the monthly fee. I won't even cough up the fee for myself and I have always love Warcraft games and online RPGs
