Today i had the front left tyre replaced and I noticed that after this was done the car veered to the left slightly, I took it back the garage they said it was probably because the front left was a bit worn but still legal is this the cause??

the car was definately not doing this before the tyre was changed that is maybe why i believe the car mechanic but i dont want to as I have just found out to my dismay that the tyres on my seat ibiza2.0 are "low profile" the garage says and it cost me 100 pounds for one!

It is very possible.
You should always have tires replaced 2 at a time. Both tires on an axle should be replaced at the same time to prevent exactly what you are seeing.
Other possibilities are you're cars out of alignment and needs to have it's wheels aligned, or your tires are improperly inflated and causing the car to veer in one direction.

Very highly likely because you now have a thicker tread on the right wheel than on the left wheel which is causing an imbalance in the steering geometry.
Have the front left tyre replaced as well.

If there is a difference between the tread thickness of the two front tyres, (One new, one part worn) then is possible and probable that pulling to one or other side will happen.

Assuming the tyre pressures are correct, it sounds as though the garage is correct. Odd tyres can have some unusual effects on the steering..

It is wise to have the tyres to have equal stopping ability otherwise you may skid and have an accident especially in the rain or ice.Have them checked for allignment too as this is important,if the car pulls to one side then that tyre wears unevenly and you will have to renew quickly..Get it sorted and you will feel and be safer

If the tracking has been checked it should not veer to one side. The garage should either include this in the price or offer a check for a small fee. If it's not the tracking, I'd get it checked out properly.

sounds like a crock to me. may be your alignment is off. also if the unchanged tire is underinflated(soft ) then the car may pull that way. it could be the brake pads on the side are grabbing more causing the car to veer. the rack and pinion(steering) could be going. too hard to diagnose there are too many variables. like was the car doing this before the tire was changed.

you should change both front tyres at the same time try to find 2 tyres about the same tread depth and change them over

i had the same problem on my accord but more extreme than what youre describing. i would check the air pressure on both front tires first (i say "first" because you should really check them all) to make sure theyre even and where theyre supposed to be(max psi will be written on the sidewall of your tire, you want to get them pretty close to this mark). in my case, one was at 60psi because of the stupid mechanic and the other was at 45psi causing the car to pull hard left.
