my guppy was laying at the bottum of the bowl and looked bigger

If your guppy looks like she has a fat belly, she is probably pregnant. You can tell for sure if she has a dark triangle-shaped mark at the base of her belly. If you determine that she is pregnant, the best thing to do is put her in a separate tank so she can have her babies in peace, because they WILL get eaten if you just leave her your main tank with other fish. If another tank is not an option, at least get a breeding box or a breeding net... or at the very least get some floating plants so the babies can hide from the other fish.

they do have live young, but you can tell if they are pregnant cause there bellies do swell (the females have shorter tails and aren't as pretty in color). Not all the young will survive either, many get eaten!
