Most importantly, GO to the ceremony at the church, not just the party afterwards.
Is the party right after church? If the church allows photos during the Baptism try to get a nice one with a digital camera. If they don't allow flash photos in the church then take an outdoor posed one of the child, parents and maybe godparents. Then afterwards, on the way to the party, stop at Costco or Walgreens and have them print it. Be sure to have purchased a frame in advance that you can slip the photo into it then into a gift bag a viola!, Instant Memories.
Another nice gift (and lot less hassle, too!!) is a good outfit for attending church in the future. So few people dress-up on Sundays anymore; so I am all for any opportunity to reinforce that custom.

We belong to a Christian denomination that performs the sacrament of infant baptism. I have been to numerous baptisms along with having my own 4 children baptized as infants. I personally like to give a baby's first Bible as a gift and I always write a note saying the Bible was given in celebration of their baptism and sign my name with the date. You can go to a Christian bookstore for ideas as well. There are numerous commemorative plates, plaques, and wall hangings you can buy. Also, small figurines to celebrate baptism are available as well. When my grandmother was alive, she always gave the grand-babies in her family a silver cup engraved with the baby's name and date of the baptism on it for a special keepsake. Our church gives each person baptized (our pastors also do child and adult baptisms as well) a small wooden cross that is handmade by an elderly gentleman in our church. It comes with a hook for hanging and a certificate of baptism. My children also received regular gifts such as outfits, toys, and books on their baptisms. I am American and a Christian so I hope some of these suggestions will be suitable.

Maybe a baby bracelet, or a children's bible with the babies named engraved that they could have one day....a personalized baby blanket with the date of the batism engraved.....a rosary for the baby to one day have......you could also ask the parents....tell them you would like to get them a gift and ask what would be most meaningful to remember that day.

How about a book of little kid Bible stories that the parents of the child could read to it?
