WTF are they gonna do shoot one off into the open sky? that would be the stupidest thing on their part. The United States is not the only ones that are pissed off at them. Britain and Germany and Israel are pissed too. And all three have nukes. France doesnt want anything to happen because theyve invested money into Irans Nuke program. Russias even getting ticked. And we cant forget how big of a threat Russia can be with their nuclear arsenal. Plus with the joint military excersizes between Russia And China they are now considered allies. So Go ahead IRAN send off a nuke. send off anything. You guys will be hit so hard in just about every direction possible. You know, I'm an American and I don't think there is only one superpower in the world. China and Russia both seem to be such to me. And I can see one arguement they could easily make that I have to agree with them on. What's to stop us if we decided to attack their countries. The threat of a retalitory strike was a good deterent during the Cold War, and tends to be a good one for us today (though I think there are some nations that will be less likely to back down and end up usuing their nukes, the superpowers just seem less likely right now). But if we can knock out enemy missiles before they can even reach us, then the three possible modes of a retalitory strike are basically gone. We can scramble jets and both ship and land based SAMs to take out bombers already. That leaves land based missiles and sub launched ballistic missiles, both of which could be covered by the missile shield. So if we wanted to, we could attack without them being able to do anything or return fire. A very bad thing.

Now I'm not saying I don't want some kind of protection against nuclear attacks. I can just understand one possible arguement against the defense shield by other nations.
