Hi Henry!

1) Don't panic - this happens to loads of people!
2) Don't be ashamed or worry what other people think; who gives a shite?
3) Look at the bigger picture - it might seem like a lot of hassle you don't want to retake your exams, but trust me, if you don't bother you'll regret it. Whereas if you do bother, you'll have them on your CV for the rest of your life.
4) Speak to your head of year / tutor about resits or even repeating the year if you want to. You can always do this at college if you want to.
5) Go and see a careers advisor - there may be another course you can do that can replace GCSEs
6) Look at this as your second chance!
7) Wait until August until you doom yourself - you never know. I got a B in French and honest to god I thought I'd failed. Sometimes you can surprise yourself!!

Don't worry honey, you will be able to work it out! Retake if you can and speak to someone at your school about options. You can also visit http://www.connexions-direct.com and someone should be able to advise you.

I'm just finishing Uni now, but when I was doing my GCSEs the teachers made it sound like the rest of your life depended on it. Teachers are awful at reassuring people that there's always another way. If you have done badly, they will let you retake, or you can do your GCSEs again somewhere else. At my school, they let a few people in to do their A levels even though they didn't quite meet the grades.

GCSEs are just a stepping stone to further qualifications, so if you don't get them this time round, do them again, and then you can move up the ladder. Don't worry, there's always a way!

xx Emmie

The only GCSEs you've failed are History, Technology, Science and French, all the others are pass grades. This isn't entirely bad, many jobs accept Cs and Ds, you can do A-Levels at a separate school which will get you an even better job especially if you get good grades in that. A C isn't a terrible grade, in fact it's an average grade, and for achieving a C in English (the subject generally considered the hardest) that's something to be proud about so don't worry :) DuffyEdge

You can always sit them again. Stop panicking I know it feels like the end of the world but what happens at school does not have to shape your whole life.

I did really rubbishly at school, I hated it and never revised, hardly ever went and was generally just a little tear a way. I left school at 16 and did a SVQ in business administration for a large insurance company. I worked in offices for the next eight years until finally at went to college at the grand old age of 24. I absolutely loved it and won student of the year in my first year. I am now nearly a fully qualified Beauty Therapist - no we arent bimbos actually, I can go on to university and be in the 3rd year of a lot of degree courses after I finish my HND next year.

Good luck and trust me as long as you want to do something you can do it, you've just got to have your heart in it

You can re-sit them at college - And the re-sit classes are really short too - like part time courses - And are normally scheduled so you can take a fulltime class at the same time - eg. GNVQ / A Levels whatever.

If your worried about not getting into the course you wanted to go for - you can just re-sit and re-apply next year - You could still do a GNVQ1 or 2 in any subject you want - regardless of how bad your grades were.

You have alot of options.

Poor you! You could maybe ask in your school if you could resit some or all of them. If not, and you are not big on academic subjects then maybe look into a more vocational type of course. I am sure that a college nearby might have something they could offer you. I obviously don't know what you are good at or like, but I know that there are definitely vocational courses available in things like sport, art and music. Good luck, and don't be afraid to ask for help. xxx

Resit them ... Go to college.

I signed on for college the September after I left school. You could take them again.

You can always resit them again. Try going to a college and check with them. They will give you the chance to resit your exams and get the marks and the grades this time.

You have the whole of your life ahead of you, make the best of it now, study and retake them, look on this as a minor setback, next year you will do better, good luck, think positive!!!

The only thing you can do is re-sit them but this time revise well in advance and make doubly sure you know the work beforehand
