If you really want to do all the fun stuff there, there is really no way to avoid spending money. But what you could do is start a "carnival fund." Every time you get paid, set aside maybe $20 (or whatever you can comfortably put aside), and then when a carnival comes to town, just dip into your carnival fund and spend it instead of the money you need for other stuff.

i worked for a carnival for 5 yrs.
Best thing to do is check you local add and see if they have any specials days for rides or admission
Eat before you go... the food at carnivals is mainly fired... that makes you thirsty... you spend more then you are hungry again cause fried food doesn't stick with you that long.
Lots of carnival company's also have a web site, you can check there to get there schedule. Maybe even call them.
the people I worked for where always giving out VIP stuff
Have a great time

Go on "wrist band day" which will allow you to ride all the rides for one price, usually all day. Don't play carnival games, you never win any good prizes...the games are fixed. Perhaps pack a picnic lunch of all the goodies you might be tempted to eat while there. That way you aren't paying horrible prices for greasy food, and plan on just eating dessert as a treat while at the carnival. I wish I could go with you, I love carnivals! have a funnel cake! Or a deep fried snickers bar! Yum Yum!

Coupons to get in cheaper is one thing if they give them out. Pack a lunch! Yes, carnival food can be yummy, but it saves money to bring a few sandwiches. As well as not have so much junk food to consume. Games! Most game prizes are junk. So playing for the prize is wasting your money. Pick the games that are the most fun and play them only a couple of times. Last thing, if they sell all day ride passes, they are much cheaper then individual tickets. Expecially if your planing on riding rides the whole time.

Buy the bracelet to get unlimited rides.
Limit yourself to just buying one of your fav. carnival snacks (cotten candy, carmel apple, elephant ears) and one drink (order w/ no or little ice, so you'll get more pop), unless you'll be there all day, then include one meal.
If you play any games, whatever you do, don't keep trying for the big stuffed animal, no matter what they say. My husband (when we were dating) spent $80 to win me a spongebob, that I could have bought for $30 at toys'r'us. (I told him to quit but he wouldn't). If you must play a game, do something thats lilky not rigged, like throwing darts at the ballons. Or the thing where you put a quater in, and try to get the bar to move to give you lil prizes, and money (those might be rigged some, but your not spending that much, and gettting at least something usually) Don't see the freak show either, that stuff is usually all made up, or most of it is. HAVE FUN!!!

If you go on rides, decide how many you can afford and walk around before making your decision. Some carnival have little shops so spend time browsing them. Bring your own drink and something to snack on..but we all have something we love for food at carnivals...mine is mini donuts so I always buy them. Don't play games, those are a waste of money and do you really need the crappy prizes?

Make sure you eat before going, that way you spend less money than necessary. You can grab some popcorn, but you won't have to spend major money on other food.

Just go and get some cotton candy, find a good location to sit, and watch people....there really are lots of different kinds of people at places like that. Then walk around and look at all the different stands.....just dont buy to much.

Get one of those bracelets where you pay a certain price, then you can go on as many rides as you want. However, they limit what kind of rides you can go on. But they don't limit how many times you can ride them.
