Muslims have to get together and denounce what the extremist are doing; every time a Muslim does some sort of terrorist action Muslims should be very vocal about it and make appearances on television and radio. If they are doing this already its not enough.

11 September 2001.
And not all Americans have anti-Muslim sentiment. We do, however, have anti-terroritst sentiment. Unfortunately, some terrorists claim to be Muslim. Intelligent Americans know the difference between a Muslim and an extremist, however, as there are extremists who are the cancers of all types of religions. They may claim to follow a religious ethic, but the thinking Americans know that the terrorists are not Christian (as David Koresh claimed to be) nor Muslim (as Osama Bin Laden claims to be). Steps that can be taken to reduce negative feelings towards actual Muslims in America would be to just live an honest life; no matter what your religion, faith, or belief system is. We should all "just get along."

It was 2001, not 1999. This was just the latest attack on America and American interests by Muslims.
1979 - Americans held hostage in Iran by Muslims.
1983 - U.S. Marines murdered in Beirut by Muslims.
1993 - First WTC bombing by Osama bin Laden.
1998 - Attack on the U.S.S. Cole by Muslims.
There are others but I don't remember exact dates. None of these attacks were condemned by 'moderate' Muslims, which, we keep being told, DO exist. In fact, when the WTC towers did fall, we got live action pictures from the Middle East which showed groups of Muslims shouting with apparent glee and firing guns into the air. How are Americans supposed to feel about Muslims when they are delighted over our deaths? If Muslims want Americans to have positive feelings about them, then Muslims should make a better effort to show some genuine concern for the innocent victims of bombings and shootings.
It is true that not all Muslims are terrorists, but in the last 30 years, 99% of terrorists were Muslims.

The feeling that was created was eventually that of a "Holy War" mentality by the current administration, and a "My God is bigger than your God" thing. Plus it's America's "nature" to profile...everything here is, at it's roots, based on race, creed, ethnicity, religion, etc. So now if you "look" the part, and don't pray to "our" God, there's a "good" possibility that you can profiled in America.
Ask Blacks, Asians, Jews, Native Amer., Italians, Irish, Hispanics...Take your pick...each of these groups has faced at least "similar" circumstances at one time or another in this country.
How do you stop prejudice? I don't know, I'm descended from American Slaves and some people try to use that as justification for a reason to profile me.
Just like "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder", so is prejudice!!

Hmmm. Ok, this statement is not true to begin with. Although all terrorists in today's world seem to be Muslim, not all Muslims are terrorists. And that is an American thinking.
