I know petrolium ether is a mixure of several compounds, I just can't find any data on it.

Petroleum ether is a mixture of alkanes, e.g., pentane, hexane, and heptane. U must see the c.s. of these compounds... They are all around 1 ppm

Well there you go, there will be different shifts for each compound. It is probably best not to use this as a solvent in preparing your NMR samples.
