Don't misunderstand, I'm not racist. The times of slavery were horrible but hasn't there been enough? No one still living in the USA has ever been a slave or slaveholder.

I am a 24 year old white male. If myself and a black man of the same qualifications apply for a job or a college, he will get it so the company/college can point to him and say "See? We're an equal opportunity employer."

I never owned a slave, or mistreated one. Slavery is far enough behind us now that the current generations only read about it in history books. Yet we (white men) still get penalties like this. So this translates into the racism being reversed now in *favor* of the black man. Why should these guys get an edge over me like that? He personally didn't have to endure slavery. I don't see him as a certain color. I just see him as a guy who gets more favors then me because his great-grandparents had a tragic life. At some point you're just causing more hatred.

It is time to end it. All races have proven time over and time again that they can be as smart as any other race. They have proven that they are as successful in terms of being CEO's and Managers all the time. Even people with handicaps are successful. It's time to hire and "judge" a person for what they are... a PERSON and not part of a group of people!

Affirmative Action should never have existed (it's based on the time-honored theories that "two wrongs make a right" and that people should be punished for the wrongs done by thier ancestors). Even by it's own arguments, it should have ended in the mid 80s, the 90's at the latest.

Now is a better time to end it than later.

If every white person who now favors affirmative action were forced to give his job or college seat to a non-white the support for affirmative action among the PC crowd would shrivel up like a worm on a hot sidewalk

I would go and teach in the public schools then as a career.

Affirmative action will be a moot point when equal access to a quality education is guaranteed by all.

Oh, and you may want to ask the colleges to get rid of legacy students while getting rid of Affirmative Action.

Funny thing is, the number of times you will find two people equally qualified applying for a position - is 0.

Affirmative action now requires companies to hire minorities by percentage - so now you dont have equally qualified epople getting your job, you have people getting it who arent as qualified.

i think we are at a element the place we can finally permit pass of affirmative action. besides the reality that i do no longer understand how I benefitted from it. Is there an application you fill out to get it? To the guy who thinks the presidential elections might desire to do with affirmative action, it does not, because of the fact the president is "elected" by using the human beings, and no you possibly can rigidity you to vote for a individual because of the fact of their race. Affirmative action grow to be instituted to offer a point taking part in field for minorities besides as whites, and it grow to be thought that it may leave as quickly because it grow to be no longer needed, or as quickly as the institutionalized discrimination grow to be now no longer as rampant because it grow to be in the '60s. It grow to be no longer a racist coverage, it grow to be instituted as a effect of discrimination in guidance and employment of minorities. i think of immediately this is needed under it grow to be 40 yrs in the past. This application has been a double-edged sword of types. human beings say we are unqualified, yet we are employed and knowledgeable besides because of this application, yet while no longer for this methodology, we had much less of a large gamble than others, in basic terms in line with ethnicity. And on perfect of that, whites experience that this methodology discriminates against them and forces them to hire a minority over a "greater helpful qualified white individual".

Yes! It is reverse racism in the truest form! I think most companies are afraid to not hire the minority in fear of what may happen to their company (being labeled a racist). It's insane. The most qualified canidate should get the job, I don't care what your race or skin color is.

Affirmative action is a denial of the fact we are all born different; a denial of a person's right to get the position he/she deserves; a denial of ones ability to transcend or live apart from the conditions of his/her birth.

So YES do away with affirmative action.

Affirmative action is just another phrase for reverse discrimination. So, I say drop it, and let the chips fall where they may.
