"According to a new New York Times/CBS News poll, only 16% of Americans think the government is telling the truth about 9/11:
"Do you think members of the Bush Administration are telling the truth, are mostly telling the truth but hiding something, or are they mostly lying?
Telling the truth 16%
Hiding something 53%
Mostly lying 28%
Not sure 3%"
The 16% are probably a waste of energy: if they still believe the official story, then they are unlikely to change their minds based on facts. (If you have the patience to never give up, then more power to you).

I read the data you provided, and it says that 68 percent of the country believes that the government is mostly telling the truth.

The question does not include the percentage of those who believe that the government is hiding something, who believe that the government *ought* to hide things that are appropriately classified matters of national defense.

So...your question...and your conclusion within your question...are not really a question, are they? It's more like a rant...Hmmm...where's my copy of the Y!A Community Guidelines...

There are three types of lies:
Lies
Damn Lies
Statistics

First of all the question does not specify 9/11 just whether or not "the Bush Administration (is) telling the truth." This can be taken as covering the entire spectrum of events under the administration from the Iraq War to the Attorney General's firings. So you have misused the statistics and editorialized to exclude the results to 9/11.

Furthermore you can see from the question it leads the respondent to answer toward the latter. Any common sense person understands that certain details and technical aspects cannot be released for security reasons. So, its really only relevant that 28 % believed they're mostly lying (if that figure is even accurate).

Any pollster can get any figure he wants from any study and (as shown here) can warp those figures further to reach any conclusion they may choose.

If you consider that obtaining duck tape will prevent from a nuclear assault than I might see the way you might consider the governments lies ... I imply experiences. Look we're sitting in a melting pot, that's slowly growing in temperature. Occasionally an ice dice will get shedding in or a Breezes of wind blows via. This simply cools matters off somewhat whilst the warmth keeps to develop, like gasoline expenses. up-up-up-down-down-up- up-up-down-up-up-down-down-up-up-up-up. It is solely transitority remedy. While matters are honestly getting worse. Me need to begin replacing the path now if we desire to prevent ready till matters get to a factor in which difference isn't just inevitable however it's virtually insufferable. nine/eleven was once an within activity and people who chooses to not consider additionally consider lack of expertise is bliss. As they take a seat there contemptuously claiming they recognise higher, they decline to besides what they disagree with. They are occur to appear at why you're fallacious however are unwilling to appear at why you're correct. Why for the reason that they do not desire to consider. You need to appear similarly at each side to realize what's going on. I am worn out, been doing this fact spreading for many years now. People simply do not desire to grasp. I won't give up till I have talked to each and every individual in my neighborhood tho.

Poll are indicative of nothing. word a poll just right and you can get the answers you want

The government told us as much as they could and knew about what happened to cause 9/11. The commission report showed us that because of our BAD foreign policies (beginning with the Reagan era) and BAD security and immigration policies, that 19 men (20 actually) were able to get through and use our "comfortable stance" against us.

The NIST report showed us why the things happened as they did.

People i knew died in 911, so if anyone says that it didn't happen; it makes me very angry. As for who did it, or if the government is hiding something; i don't now. They could be, or they could be telling the truth.

Perhaps people have done research and found out something. Maybe this government has lost any credibility not just over 9/11 but everything.

To find the truth about 9/11 read and be enlightened:
"The 9/11 Commission Report Omissions & Distortions", by David Ray Griffin.

It is well documented and fills in the gaps.

I believe they're hiding some things, but have gone over the "facts" and cannot come to the reasonable conclusion that the government was actually responsible for what happened that day. May people in the government have profitted off it? Perhaps. Did they do all they could to prevent it? Probably not. But I don't believe it was orchestrated by them.

even IF they didn't orchestrate 9/11, they knew something bad was coming because the Clinton administration warned them about al queda.
so either way, the PNAC got their wish and now we've got 2 wars and the Military Industry will just get richer drinking the blood of our soldiers. The "american" oil corporations will just get richer when the iraqi congress passes that "responsible hydrocarbon legislation"... but we the people are F*CKED!!!! hope you guys like $5 a gallon. in a few years it will be $10. but we won't be able to do anything about it because of the wonderful laws bush signed on may9th.

Polls mean nothing. When do they take these "polls"? During the day when most intelligent, tax paying folk are at work? What segment of society is actually answering these "polls". Why do you have such a hard time believing that 9/11 was exactly that the government told us it was? How in the world do you decide what to believe and what not to believe? I know liberals who don't even believe what their own parents tell them anymore. It's sad and scary.

I think there are questions unanswered. Whether it's a full blown conspiracy, I can't say.

What I can say is that some in the GOP actually want more 9/ 11s

Edit:

To those who thumed me down.

Fine, but did you READ the link? This man is a party head at the state level. And it's not like they'll fire him. So, on some level, they must agree. What would their response be if a Dem said the same thing?
