I am 27 and I am planning on auditioning for AI this year, but I have been a bit discouraged by people who say that older women do not have a good chance of winning...I really want to follow my dream, but I must admit that it kind f gets to me...any thoughts?

I don't think that age really has anything to do with it. Except this year. I think part of the reason jordin won is because of how many times they said how talented she was especially for being only 17. But last year Taylor Hicks (yuck!) won and he was like 29.

Just think a 29 year old won last year and a 17 year old won this year. So it can go any direction.
If you really intend to try out. Make sure your weight is under
control, a very nice professionally done hair style. Look your best.
If you really believe you can sing, have you had lessons? If not find a teacher immediately and begin lessons and get an
outsiders opinion. Tape a full well done song, and let people listen to it and ask their REAL OPINION. It could save your heart being broken on National TV. But if you really can sing and have had plenty of experience, Go For It.

have you even seen the show? NOBODY has a "good" chance of winning there are millions upon millions of applicants. it is like winning th lottery! But most importantly you have to be able to sing. You need to worry about getting accepted first. because that part of the competition age definitely does not matter. (unless you are really old)

well the youngest contestant won this year and the oldest contestant won last year. They dont go by appearance or size or age I think 29 is the cutoff though. It all depends on your singing ability..can you sing? You can record your voice and hear it back on your PC go to entertainment and click recorded and do a quick song and play it back.

Yes, unfortunately. I feel age shouldn't matter, but the "American Idol" will always be the younger one.
