"According to a new New York Times/CBS News poll, only 16% of Americans think the government is telling the truth about 9/11:
"Do you think members of the Bush Administration are telling the truth, are mostly telling the truth but hiding something, or are they mostly lying?
Telling the truth 16%
Hiding something 53%
Mostly lying 28%
Not sure 3%"
The 16% are probably a waste of energy: if they still believe the official story, then they are unlikely to change their minds based on facts. (If you have the patience to never give up, then more power to you).
The 28% who say "mostly lying" are probably already 9/11 truthers. They may, however, simply believe that the government LET 9/11 happen on purpose, without understanding that 9/11 could not have succeeded unless elements within the government had actively ASSISTED in the attacks. So you might want to discuss some of the facts regarding the war games and the Mineta testimony, for example.

There's no way the truth has been, or ever will be told by the government regarding 9/11. Even if part of the real story behind it was revealed the population couldn't handle it. Many will believe unconditionally the *official* government version of the story as fact without question. Many will never be able to grasp the layers of complexities surrounding that day and by default, call all naysayers unpatriotic. Some just plain figure "ooh well" that was years ago, let it go. The most patriotic thing any American can ever do is to demand government accountability in the name of the people. A society that allows its leaders to go unchecked will eventually discover its constitution becomes just what GW called it, "A piece of paper"

If you believe that getting duck tape will save you from a nuclear attack than I could see how you could believe the governments lies ... I mean stories.
Look we are sitting in a melting pot, that is slowly increasing in temperature. Occasionally an ice cube gets dropping in or a Breezes of wind blows through. This just cools things off a little while the heat continues to increase, like gas prices. up-up-up-down-down-up- up-up-down-up-up-down-down-up-up-up-up. It is just temporary relief. While things are actually getting worse.
Me must start changing the course now if we wish to avoid waiting until things get to a point where change is not only inevitable but it is almost unbearable.
9/11 was an inside job and those who chooses not to believe also believe ignorance is bliss. As they sit there contemptuously claiming they know better, they refuse to except what they disagree with. They are happen to look at why you are wrong but are unwilling to look at why you are right. Why because they don't want to believe.
You must look equally at both sides to understand what is going on.
I am tired, been doing this truth spreading for a long time now. People just don't want to know. I will not stop until I have talked to every person in my community tho.

It is a fact that the government both lied and covered it up.
Was intelligence in our government involved? How did they do it? BLa Bla BLa. We may never know but what we do know is that our country is in peril to loosing everything it once stood for. We have been slowly loosing it for sometime now, and 9/11 just sped things up.
George Orwell's 1984 is a decent example as well as a slower moving less extreme version of Germany.

The official story has been debunked. It's just a fact that the 9/11 report is a cover-up. If you can prove the official story to be fact, i'd be willing to listen, but you can't. You lack evidence, which is why we have a conspiracy here!

I know for a fact that GWB blew up the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City and a few years later stood right outside my house with a high powered rifle and shot down the space shuttle ("Just for kicks," He said). I don't have solid proof as yet, but there is every reason to believe he also arranged the death of race car driver, Dale Earnhardt. There, put this to a poll and your 53% will believe part of it and your 28% will believe most of it. Stating something as a "fact" does not make it a fact. ---and none of the foregoing was fact. BUT I can tell you why these people think it is, they hate GWB.

spamming this question to several forums is against the TOS of Yahoo! Answers.
And for infowars; please that is a site for rhetoric and outright libel and slander (Alex Jones repeatedly accuses the FDNY and Silverstein as being murderers).
No, the official story has NEVER been debunked. Only in the fantasy world of 9/11 Woos.

Conspiracy theorists are so exhausting. The burden of proof is on you. And so far, the "evidence" your side has presented is so vague that it can't be proven either way. Making accusations is not presenting evidence. Grow up and find something to really be passionate about.

I think they new but did nothing. But I also believe that they government had something to do with bringing the twin towers down. I don't believe that the 747 could bring them straight down. If they toppled over, that I could believe. But straight down. I don't think so.
